What we will be doing:

We will be working along side Pastor Valerio ,a national pastor in Guatemala.  We will be staying at a church in a small village near Lake Atitlan called Paquip. (picture below is on the way to Paquip)  We will have teams that run VBS day camps during the time that we are there and we hope to continue to work with the community for other needs as they arise.

Because of the limited resources in the community our meals will consist mostly of rice, black beans, and tortillas.  We will be sleeping on concrete floors and may have no access to showers for a few days.  This will stretch us from our normal comforts, but will be a wonderful privilege to serve this community and encourage the Pastor and his family.

   .

Debrief:

We will have a day and a half or two day debrief in Guatemala.  One day we will spend near the lake in one of the communities.  This will give us a chance to reflect on our experiences and how we saw God work.  We will also spend some time visiting and staying in Antigua, which is one of the most preserved spanish colonial cities in the world.  We will learn some of the history of the native Mayan Guatemalan culture and the influence the Spaniards had in Guatemala during the days of the Spanish Conquistadors.
